A week of prep in Hampton
On Wednesday the 25th, we left the dock at Willoughby and made a quick trip across to Hampton, where we stopped at the fuel and pumpout docks at Safe Harbor Bluewater before carefully backing into our slip where we’d hang out for the week ahead.
I don’t even know how to summarize all the things we did during the week that we’ve been in Hampton. Every kind of preparation for our departure to the Abacos! The best part was that we got to meet many other folks who are headed to the Bahamas or the Caribbean as part of the Salty Dawg rally.
Cecelia got to hang out with some other boat kids and even go trick-or-treating (trunk-or-treating, if we’re being super accurate).
Our friends Chris and Tom arrived a couple of days ago to join us as crew. They have been helping out with all the remaining prep for departure. We had a great steak dinner one night this week, and just tonight we upheld the tradition of watching Captain Ron before leaving on a passage.
As of today (Nov 1), we’re planning to head out tomorrow morning, Nov 2, and turn down the coast towards Charleston, looking for a favorable window to cross the Gulf Stream to the Abacos on Monday, possibly Sunday if conditions improve further. We are excited to get moving! (And this blog entry clearly has posted a week or so after those dates, so in future posts we’ll let you know how it all worked out!)
Cecelia looks concentrated on her food organization😀
